In the spring of 2010 I traveled to Peru with the Dreamtime Circus as performer and documentarian. Our aim was to offer free circus skills workshops and performances to "underserved" communities (rural villages, orphanages, women's shelters, etc.), but I found myself to be the one taught over and over again- humbled by the presence, wisdom and clarity of the girls who inhabit the jungles, cities, deserts and mountains of that complex set of cultures bound up in one border.
